About the Tour
Tuscany is the most famous Italian region. There are many good reasons for that: the unique landscape, the incredible medieval villages, the superb towns full of art and history, the best food ever, its world-renown wines (Chianti, Brunello, Supertuscans…) and much more.
The sweet hills of this region are not only a joy for the eyes; they also host a network of twisty and winding roads, the perfect playground for all drivers and riders.
Umbria is the beautiful region where sweet Tuscan-like valleys are surrounded by the high and rugged peaks of the Central Apennines.
It is also famous for its charcuterie and its many saints, including Saint Francis of Assisi. Good for body and soul.
Schedule
- Day 0: Arrival in Rome, typically in the A.M. from North America. Relax at the hotel and enjoy the afternoon in Rome. A “Meet & Greet” in the late afternoon before our Welcome Dinner.
We strongly suggest arriving 1-2 Days early to explore Rome and adjust to new time zone. - Day 1: After breakfast, we rendezvous with the Blue Strada Miatas a short distance from Rome. We will take a meandering route through Lazio to a nice lunch overlooking Orvieto. Then on to Umbria where the Abbazia Collemedio Resort is located where we will stay for three nights.
- Day 2: We travel through lovely roads in the National Park of the Monti Sibillini to Castelluccio di Norcia for a typical Italian lunch with a stunning view on the Mount Vettore, returning on another fun alternate route.
- Day 3: More winding roads to the spectacular city of Assisi with all it’s history and charm, including the Basilica, a UNESCO site.
- Day 4: Spectacular roads through mountains and hills are our way to Tuscany, with a great lunch in a country restaurant before arriving Siena, the Medieval Gem of Italy, as well as another UNESCO site.
- Day 5: Meet San Gimignano, one more UNESCO site, with its spectacular medieval towers; then a visit of the Chianti Region with a wine tasting in a local renown winery.
- Day 6: After a visit to the roofless medieval Abbey of San Galgano, we drive along exhilarating twisty roads to Siena, where we enjoy a custom guided tour of the town and its Cathedral, with dinner in the medieval Piazza del Campo with its magnificent Town Hall.
- Day 7: Our last ‘meandering’ drive towards the Miata Garage includes a savory stop along the way before boarding the vans and returning to Rome hotel by mid-afternoon; allowing guests more time to see why Rome is so special. The day finishes with the Tour Celebration dinner.
- Day 8: Breakfast at hotel and then we’ll begin airport transfers, back to Rome Fiumicino Airport as required by departures. Until we meet again!
- Morning departures are typically 9:00 or as advised
- Afternoon arrivals normally leave time to relax before dinner
