About the Tour
Get ready to experience Portugal like never before – from the driver’s seat of a Miata! This road tour is the perfect blend of scenic routes, exhilarating drives, and unforgettable adventures.
Cruise along Portugal’s most stunning roads, from the rolling vineyards of the Douro Valley to the rugged beauty of the Portuguese mountains.
Schedule
- Day 0: Arrival at Porto, Portugal, typically in the A.M. from North America. Relax at the Hotel Ipanema Park and enjoy the afternoon in Porto. A “Meet & Greet” in the late afternoon will be to assign the cars, complete registration docs etc. before our Welcome Dinner that evening at a typical Portuguese restaurant.
- Day 1: After breakfast we rendezvous in the hotel parking garage for a time to get familiar with the cars before heading out to the Douro River Valley, arriving mid-afternoon at Quinta do Portal, a small inn overlooking vineyards of the Douro.
- Day 2: We depart mid-morning through more beautiful roads in Douro Valley to the Serra da Estrela mountains, arriving at the H2otel and Spa mid-afternoon.
- Day 3: Today is a free-day to explore the town of Unhais da Serra, enjoy the spa, or take a 3-4 hr drive in the Serra de Estrela mountains, returning to H2otel and Spa.
- Day 4: More beautiful roads and scenery of the Upper Douro Valley that ends mid-afternoon at Quinta da Terrincha, a farm of olives and vineyards.
- Day 5: Our exploration of the Upper Douro Valley continues to Bragança and a mountain chalet called Pousada de Sao Bartolomeu. Spectacular views of Rio Cavado Valley.
- Day 6: Explore the scenic small towns and villages of Peneda-Gerês National Park (300 square miles) and return to Pousada de Sao Bartolomeu in the afternoon.
- Day 7: Our return to Porto is imminent. A beautiful 260 km drive arriving in the afternoon. The day finishes with the Tour Celebration dinner by the Sea.
- Day 8: Individual transport to Porto International Airport will begin per guests’ flight schedule.
- Morning departures are typically 9:00 or as advised
- Afternoon arrivals normally leave time to relax before dinner
